What is the Mall/Fundraiser?
[Top]
K12mall is set up to easily enhance school fundraising activity.
Any purchase that is made through K12Mall earns a donation.
Here is how it works:
- The first time shoppers visit our site they must select
a school or course so we can keep track of their purchases
for that school. They then proceed to shop online from
our pre-selected family-oriented merchants.
- K12Mall receives a report from the merchants that includes
the purchase totals and the donation amounts. Each merchant
offers a different donation rate and some merchants may
offer a different donation rate for each individual product.
Donation rates are also dynamic. For these reasons, the
donation rates that a school earns may vary from 0.25%
to 12% of the purchase price for each sale. Some merchants
even offer flat rate donations of up to $45 on sales for
your school!
- We will send participating schools a Shopping Report
that summarizes donation activity, along with a check
for the donation amount. The report contains the purchase
amount and the school donation amount. It does not detail
the product purchased. Schools do not collect any receipts
and they are not required to do any reporting. Each school's
Shopping Report and check are issued quarterly based on
the calendar year.
What makes yourhomework.com Mall/Fundraiser unique?
[Top]
Fundraising activities that are located on the same web
site as assignment information offer many advantages. Parents
who already use yourhomework.com now have a convenient outlet
and a reminder to give your school fundraising income when
they shop online. Shoppers can also designate that their
donations be applied to a specific course or targeted fund.
Do shoppers have a good selection of Internet shopping sites?
[Top]
YES! K12Mall selects only the best Internet shopping web
sites. We allow only the most well-known and trusted merchants
to participate in our Mall. We also make sure participating
merchants return high donations so that the schools benefit
as much as possible. This saves schools a great deal of
research time and hours of staff commitment.
Does shopping on
K12Mall cost more? [Top]
Absolutely not. Shoppers receive the same prices and services
they would find if they went directly to the merchants'
web sites. In fact, we sometimes offer exclusive promotions
from merchants that are not available if you shop directly
through their own web sites. Please note that no donations
are earned when shoppers make purchases directly on the
merchant's own web site. Shoppers must select the merchant
through K12Mall so we can track their purchases and ensure
the school receives the donation.
Can shoppers select individual courses to receive shopping donations?
[Top]
YES! Many teachers post assignments for their classes on
yourhomework.com. Shoppers can select participating INDIVIDUAL
COURSES to earn funds, giving teachers a resource to fulfill
specific student needs. Each registered course has a Course
ID number that shoppers can input when selecting the donation
recipient. Principals have the option to restrict funds
to the entire school if they wish.
Can shoppers select multiple schools or courses to receive shopping donations?
[Top]
YES! We allow up to three courses or schools to share your
shopping donations. Many parents have children in different
schools, and relatives and friends can now give to several
schools and classes at once - all automatically. The shopper
allocates the percentage each school or class receives at
the time of purchase.
How can my school participate in the Mall/Fundraiser?
[Top]
Simply let your school community know that by shopping through
K12Mall your school receives additional funds, and encourage
online shoppers to make their dollars count to the school's
benefit. The more online shoppers that select your school
the more donations the school will receive. Good communication
with all members of your school community will ensure an
ongoing source of income, so include reminders about this
source of additional funding for your school whenever it
is appropriate; in school newsletters, websites, and announcements.
And don't forget that your school community is not just
the parents and staff. It also includes alumni, relatives,
neighbors, and local businesses, as well as the pupils themselves,
who make many online purchases that their school could be
benefiting from.
Can a school designate a specific target for the fundraising income?
[Top]
YES! You can set up a course on yourhomework.com for ANY
specific fundraising need at your school. Simply create
a course on yourhomework.com for the fundraiser and inform
your school community of the course ID. Visitors can then
select that course as the recipient of their shopping donations.
It's so easy!
How can I publicize
the Mall/Fundraiser to my school community?
[Top]
In addition to a general inclusion in school newsletters
and websites, a letter to all members of the school community
is a good way to let everyone know that this type of fundraising
is available. Remind them that it costs them nothing to
participate, and that it is an ongoing rather than a temporary
event. Establish a parent email list and send monthly reminders
about shopping through the Mall/Fundraiser. Suggest bookmarking
the site, so that users remember to participate when they're
shopping online. Click here to print out a Parent
Letter to make your school's parents aware of this opportunity.
Can my school get
more detailed reports with quarterly donation checks?
[Top]
YES! Schools that desire reports that detail each individual
shopper who supported their fundraiser can request this
service for a flat rate of $20 per report.
